I have a competitive side and wanted to pursue the sport of power lifting, but I didn't know how to "become" the lifter that I pictured myself being.

Then one day I met Rob after a meet. I was pretty nervous but asked him about how to get started and the basics. He was so incredibly easy to talk to. He even invited me to train with him and his group so I could learn the ropes. The first day that I went to train with him I felt
like it was my first day back in a gym... Didn't know anything! But Rob was incredibly patient with me. He walked me through the basics and answered all my questions. And I tend to ask a lot of questions. :)

I think the most important thing that he has taught me is that I have to be patient! When I first started lifting I thought I would progress in leaps and bounds and kick everyone’s butt. Well I found out how hard that is and was ready to throw in the towel after my first big flop.

Since I've been working with Rob he has shown me that this sport, as any sport, takes time and dedication to reach the top. With his help I've found the right path towards my goals. I have learned to "become" a lifter and not just say that I am.

I am still working out with Rob and Chip and they are helping me progress towards my first short term goal, the IBP Regional bench press record. From there…well who knows?

There are a lot of records to be broken!

Working with my personal trainer has been a wonderful and pleasant experience for me.

I had to loose weight due to having some health issues and in order to get a total knee replacement that I needed. I lost over 40 pounds in 3 months and even beat the goal that my Dr. set for me! I did not see the weight coming off, but others did. I truly believe in myself now, but still want to lose about 40 to 50 more pounds.

With Rob’s help I will live my life to its’ fullest! Rob dose care for the people he works with and I will continue working with him. I thank Rob for his time and all he dose. I consider him not only my trainer, but a friend as well.

If I can do it, so can America! ...and so can you!

Thank You Rob!

"With Rob’s help I will live my life to its’ fullest!"
When I first got back into the gym in the summer of 09, after almost 15 years, I just wanted to get in better shape. I wanted to be able to meet the physical requirements of certain career fields that I was looking at. One of the requirements is to be able to bench press at least 75% of your own bodyweight. The more I worked on the benching, the more I enjoyed it. This made me finally realized that the one thing that I've been avoiding all these years is the one thing that I'm really good at and love doing, which is working out.

IBP RAW "ELITE"
IBP EQUIPPED "ELITE"

I started back working out in 2006, I wanted to get strong, and in shape.  I trained with a friend for about 5 months before seeing a flyer for a powerlifting meet.
We decided to enter the meet just to see how we would do.  We thought we were going to get destroyed at the meet, little did we know we both ended up being the top lifters of the day, thus began my love for powerlifting. We went on training for a year or so, but ended up parting ways, I just thought I was a powerlifter at that time.
In Nov. 2007I started training with Rob Wess and he showed me different! Since that time Rob has helped take my training to the next level. In training with Rob he's shown me how to be a more efficient and smarter lifter.  I've also been able to eliminate all of the small nagging injuries that plagued me before.

In just a few short years of training under Rob, I was able to hit an equipped Elite total in the SHW division in IBP, and 6 months later I hit a Raw Elitte total in IBP at the same body weight.
With Rob's help I was able to train smart and stay healthy as well as get stronger.  My sights are now set on hitting an elite total in the 308 division, and I know with Rob's help, it's only a matter of time before I achieve that goal too.  Rob is a very patient and understanding person who loves to help people achieve their fitness goals, whatever they may be.  I want to personally thank him for being a great trainer, person, and friend.
This is just the begining for the FSS Crew from Shelby.

Thanks Rob.

"The most important thing I so far have learned from Mr. Wess is: Patience... that everything comes in time and hard work."

I have been told many times that Powerlifting is not for the weak minded; training waits for no one and to follow the template.

The first time I saw Rob Wess lift, I have to admit I was a little intimidated. Not just because how crazy he gets while amping up to lift, but just how precise his form was and how everyone knew he was a serious powerlifter.
I knew I was not training the right way if I wanted to hit the numbers I was aiming for. From that point I knew I wanted to be taken serious as a powerlifter and if I wanted to be the best, I had to train with the best.

After taking a year off from powerlifting, I was chomping at the bit to get back on the platform. So I contacted Rob and Chip to see if they could help me with my form and overall lifting. Both of them were more than happy to have me work out with them and help me train to become a much better powerlifter.
Well, the first workout Rob asked me: "Do you want to lift with us or just want help with your form?" I told him to "train me" and not treat me like a girl! So needless to say, the first workout was one of the hardest physically and menally demanding workouts because I was basically changing up everything I knew about the sport. But no matter how hard it got, Rob and Chip were both there pushing me and cheering me on.

The most important think I have learned so far from Mr. Wess is patience and that everything comes in time and hard work. Because I don't know how many timesI would get frustrated at the fact that I couldn't lift what I wanted to lift or the fact that I wasn't lifting somewhat close to what they were lifting. I came from a gym where I was the top lifter and now I was training with two of IBP's top lifters. So since starting this journey I have been shown that this sport is all about patience, dedication and having the will power to push your body to it's limits and not hold back.

I continue to train with Rob and Chip, driving to and from Shelby N.C. in pursuit of accomplishing my goal of hitting "elite!" If there is anyone that is going to be able to train me to meet that goal...it is these guys!

I will always remember that powerlifting is not for the weak minded; training waits for no one and to follow the template.

Thank you Rob for everything! Without you, I would be nothing!
